Accountant / Bookkeeper
We are currently seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to manage the day-to-day financial transactions of the business. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of independently performing full-cycle accounting functions. The successful candidate must be proficient in the following:
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day financial and operational accounting activities of the company
- Perform full-cycle accounting, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, invoicing, credit management, reconciliations, and payroll
- Accounts Payable: Record vendor invoices, prepare biweekly AP reports, and process vendor payments
- Accounts Receivable: Prepare and issue invoices, record payments, send payment receipts and monthly client statements, and follow up on outstanding balances
- Purchasing: Prepare, send, track and receive purchase orders
- Inventory Management: Maintain inventory records, enter items and pricing, upload data updates, and perform inventory reconciliations
- Conduct physical inventory counts and resolve inventory variances
- Complete monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations
- Process payroll and complete month-end close activities
- Prepare and submit Payroll, PST, GST, WCB, and CARM filings and remittances
- Maintain organized accounting records and manage year-end file preparation
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as required to support a small business operation
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of Canadian experience in full-cycle accounting within a small to medium-sized business
- Ability to work independently in a hands-on role, managing responsibilities with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Solid understanding of Canadian tax, payroll, and reporting requirements
- High level of accountability and reliability
- Experience with an ERP type accounting software is an asset
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, v-lookup …
- Post-secondary education in Accounting or a related field
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Wage: Negotiable, based on experience.
