An architecture of staggered planes, a three-dimensional volume generated by the relationship between parallel and perpendicular surfaces and the voids created by their arrangement in space, as occurs in the skyline of a city, in the alternation between the built environment and free space. A sculptural presence achieved exclusively through straight lines, a generating force that comes from water and its primordial action, a marble origami that seems to have emerged from the wall to which it had been placed to express the full force of the material. It is precisely called Skyline, the marble sink that stems from an architectural conception of the object to generate a dynamic composition made of depth, perspective, light and shadow. In a constant dialogue with light and its infinite directions, the material comes to life to generate a sink that is essential and elegant at the same time, in which the minimal design of the surfaces leaves the material free to express itself and give character to the whole. A contemporary language, a overlapping of two sheets that viewed from the front conceals the basin and does not reveal the primary function but at the same time invites discovery by leaving open transversal glimpses of light.
Beyond the second floor, the basin is revealed in its full extent with the basin suspended between the two parallel planes, a kind of bridge that refers to the covered pedestrian links that united the aristocratic palaces of yesteryear. Like a modern sculpture made of regular planes that refers to the aesthetics of the avant-garde, Skyline brings modern art into the bathroom environment, contaminating it with new meanings. A “sheet of stone” perfect in its simplicity that comes alive thanks to the unique veining of natural stone, overlapping shadows and the continuous play of reflections generated by water. In fact, the smooth and reflective interior determines the multiplication of figures, the tactile aspect of the sophisticated marbles amplifies the multi-sensory experience of the washing area. Able to fit into environments of different styles, Skyline “measures” space by becoming a compositional module to rationalize the arrangement of complements and accessories, define alignments, thicknesses and proportional balances.
